At Tweetsie Railroad®, everyone in your group is welcome and we look forward to providing a safe and accessible environment for persons of all abilities.

Parking

The parking area for Guests with Disabilities is located next to the front entrance. All vehicles using a designated disability parking space must have a state or province issued license plate or disability tag. Parking is free for all guests.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Most of the areas in the park are wheelchair-accessible. Sections of the park are level; however, due to our mountain terrain there are some hills.

Tweetsie Tip

Wheelchair Rental

Wheelchairs are available for rent at the Photo Depot on Main Street ($10 per day). The park has a limited supply and they are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance.

The park does not have electric wheelchairs or electric convenience vehicles (ECV) for rent and rentals will not carry over to the next day on an "After 3:00 Next Day Free" ticket.

Bus to Miner's Mountain

Our bus runs continually from the Tweetsie Palace up to Miner’s Mountain and returns. Wheel Chairs and strollers can be loaded on the back for proper transportation.

Live Entertainment & Dining Venues

All Tweetsie Railroad show venues and dining areas are accessible to Guests with special needs. For your convenience, you may want to consider entering the venue 15 minutes prior to the published show time to allow easier access.

Train Rides

Both the Wild West Train (second car) and Mouse Mine Train are accessible for standard-sized wheelchairs.

Accessibility Ramp
Tweetsie Railroad has an accessibility ramp for standard size wheelchairs on the second train car.

Amusement Rides

Riders must meet height and age requirements as set by the state of North Carolina. You must have the ability to sit upright independently and have control of your upper torso, head, and neck during the movement of the ride.

Restrooms

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located in the Tweetsie Depot on Main Street, the Hacienda, Miners Mountain and Upper Country Fair.

A changing area for adults is located in the First Aid Station in the Tweetsie Depot on Main Street.

Service Animals

Tweetsie Railroad® welcomes service animals, as that term is defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”). Consistent with the ADA, a service animal may be excluded from venues, rides, or attractions when the service animal poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others; permitting the service animal would require a fundamental alteration in the nature of Tweetsie Railroad’s operations; the service animal is not under control; or the service animal is not housebroken. For example, a service animal may be excluded from rides on which the service animal cannot be safely restrained from falling or being ejected. Service dogs are also excluded from the Deer Park Zoo due to the presence of natural prey animals that could become aggressive or agitated by the service dog’s presence. If your service animal is excluded from a particular venue, ride, or attraction, Tweetsie Railroad will work with you and your party so that you can enjoy the venue, ride, or attraction without your service animal.

Because Tweetsie Railroad welcomes pets to the park, it might not always be obvious that a particular animal is a service animal. In those circumstances, as permitted by the ADA, the staff member might ask you whether the animal is a service animal required because of a disability and what work or tasks the animal is trained to perform.

"Emotional support animals," "comfort animals," and other animals that do not meet the ADA’s definition of a service animal are welcome to attend the park, but will not be permitted in any area where pets are not permitted.

Hearing Impaired

Tweetsie Railroad's show scripts for the Wild West Train Adventure, Diamond Lil's Can-Can Revue, and the Hopper & Porter show are available during your visit and should be returned when leaving the park. Contact Guest Services to make arrangements prior to your visit.

Vision Impaired

Due to the mountainous terrain, we recommend anyone with visual impairments be accompanied by a companion.
