Tweetsie Railroad® is open approximately six months during the year. Our schedule varies throughout the season; please review our Operating Calendar for dates and hours when the park is open.
Visit our map page, or when you visit the park you can pick up a Map & Guest Guide at the park’s Ticket Office.
For your safety, some rides have age, height, or health restrictions. The Wild West Train, Carousel, and Mouse Mine are rated “E” for “Everyone.” Please click here for more information.
If you leave and plan to return the same day, have your hand stamped upon exiting through the Ticket Office.
The First Aid Station is located in the Depot building. Medical personnel are on duty during park operating hours.

AAA, Military, and NC State Employee Discounts:
We offer discounts for AAA Members, Active Military and Active North Carolina State Employees along with their immediate family. Tickets must be purchased at the Ticket Office with a valid ID to receive the discount. Please note: There are NO discounts available for Day Out With Thomas, Ghost Train, or Tweetsie Christmas.

Only interested in doing a little shopping? We allow guests free admission for 30 minutes for shopping in one of our many retail venues. Those interested in this opportunity need to leave their car keys with the Ticket Office.
Would you like to visit Tweetsie Railroad again this season? The Ticket Office will gladly take your ticket stub on the day you visit the park and credit the purchase price toward a Tweetsie Railroad Golden Rail Season Pass.
Depending on the time of the year, some days at Tweetsie Railroad can be less crowded than others. During the summer, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays are your best bet. Our operating days and hours vary; please review our Operating Calendar for dates and hours.

If you enter the park after 3 p.m., you can use your ticket the next day at no additional charge. Keep your ticket stubs and present them at the Ticket Office for another entire day of Wild West Family Fun. Restrictions apply during Day Out With Thomas™, and the previous day’s ticket stubs are not valid for the evening Ghost Train® or Tweetsie Christmas.
Making a purchase in a Tweetsie Railroad Gift Shop? You don’t have to carry that package all day. Just ask any shop attendant about our Package Pickup program. Your package(s) will be waiting for you at the Happy Trails Toy Shop when you are ready to leave the park.
We recommend allowing at least five or six hours for your park visit. When you enter the park, you will receive a park map along with the daily show schedule to help plan out your day.
Rain showers can be brief. If it rains, try visiting our indoor attractions such as the Tweetsie Palace Can-Can Revue, the Arcade, Hopper and Porter’s™ Musical Celebration, Miner’s Mountain Magic, or shows in the Pavilion Theater. Rain ponchos may be purchased at any of our retail shops. If our rides have to be shut down for the remainder of the day due to rain or thunderstorms, you can get a rain check so you can return to Tweetsie Railroad another day during the current season.
Rain checks are not valid for admission to Day Out With Thomas™, the evening Ghost Train® or Tweetsie Christmas events.
The weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains is very unpredictable. We encourage you to obtain a current weather report prior to your visit so you can dress appropriately.
Tweetsie Railroad is located on Highway 321 between Blowing Rock, and Boone, NC. Please see our Driving Directions page for directions to the park.
Yes. Tweetsie Railroad has FREE parking all season long.
Disability parking is available in the upper lot. Proper license plate or hang tag must be visible.
Sections of the park are level; however, due to mountain terrain, there are some hills. There is a bus that runs regularly from the Tweetsie Palace up to Miner’s Mountain. Both the Wild West Train (second car) and Mouse Mine Train are accessible for standard-sized wheelchairs. All show and food venues are accessible to Guests with special needs.
Wheelchairs are available for rent at the Photo Depot on Main Street ($10 per day). Guests are encouraged to bring their own wheelchair. The park has a limited supply and they are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Please note: the park does not have electric wheelchairs or electric convenience vehicles (ECV) for rent.
ATMs are located in the General Store, Arcade, and Miner’s Diner.
American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are gladly accepted at the Ticket Office, retail shops, and food outlets.
Personal checks are gladly accepted at the Ticket Office, retail shops, and food outlets with a valid ID.
Nursing mothers may use the First Aid Station in the Depot building on Main Street. See the First Aid staff member for access. Diaper-changing facilities are located in all restrooms except those at the Tweetsie Palace and the Ticket Office.
Strollers and wagons are available for rent at the Photo Depot on Main Street ($10 per day). Guests are encouraged to bring their own stroller. There is a limited supply and they are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance.

Family Restrooms are located at the Hacienda and Country Fair.
Guests are allowed to bring food and beverages into the park. Please note alcohol is not allowed in the park.
We encourage guests with special dietary needs to inform food services when ordering. We will do our best to accommodate you. But remember, food from home is always welcomed in the park.
Pets must remain on a leash and attended at all times. Pets are not allowed on the train, on rides, in the Deer Park Zoo, the bus, or on the Chair Lift. Please have a member of your party look after your pet while you ride the train and other rides. Pets are also prohibited in food service areas unless they are Registered Service Animals.
All Guests must wear attire suitable for a family park. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times. Bathing suits must be sufficiently covered. Profanity or other distasteful or suggestive material on clothing is prohibited. Tweetsie Railroad reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone not properly attired.
Guests are not permitted to have alcoholic beverages or bring firearms, ammunition, or fireworks into the park.
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is permitted only in the Designated Smoking Areas conveniently located throughout the park. Smoking is specifically prohibited in all buildings, on the train, on all rides, and while waiting in lines.
Drones, skateboards, hover boards, remote control toys, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, and other recreational transportation devices cannot be used in the park.
