Train Ride

Enjoy thousands of dazzling Christmas lights and scenes, as you sing along to Christmas classics and ride in an open-air train car pulled by one of our historic narrow-gauge steam locomotives. The train runs every half hour beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Santa's Gingerbread House

Meet Santa Claus in his own house - filled with candied furnishings. Imagine sitting on a chocolate truffle or resting on a piece of ribbon candy just before you meet Santa for a photo on his gingerbread bench.

Live Christmas Show

Audiences of all ages will enjoy the heartwarming, toe-tapping, live Christmas Show in the Tweetsie Palace. Performances are at 5:30, 6:15, 7:00, 7:45, and 8:30 pm.

Snow Globes

Let the fun begin, as you and your family step into a larger-than-life snow globe filled with swirling (synthetic) snow! Have your picture taken, then watch out for friendly snow fights.

Memory Makers

Tweetsie Christmas provides plenty of opportunities to make some great memories with your friends and family. Spin through the night on rides in Tweetsie Junction, including the Little Drummer Boy, (a classic teacup ride that is a Tweetsie Christmas exclusive). Peek through a Christmas present, climb into a sleigh, roast s'mores over an outdoor fire pit, and enjoy handmade items from Tweetsie Railroad's Fudge Works.

The Tweetsie Christmas event will be held 12 evenings, Friday and Saturday, November 22 - December 12, and Friday, Saturday & Sunday, December 18-27. Park hours are 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

You will enjoy a dazzling holiday light display and holiday music during a 3-mile train ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains in an open-air train car pulled by a historic narrow gauge steam locomotive. Dress warm!

Visit Santa in his Gingerbread House, enjoy a live Christmas show in the Tweetsie Palace, play in a larger than life snowglobe, warm up to a campfire and toast s'mores at the Hacienda, enjoy the lights on Main Street and the Christmas trees, visit the shops, and more.

Tickets can be purchased online, at the Ticket Office during regular operation hours, or by phone at 1-877-TWEETSIE (1-877-893-3874). Refund fee $5 per ticket. Exchange fee $10 per order.

We anticipate that many nights will be sold out well in advance and that no tickets will be available at the door on the night of the event. We strongly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance in order to assure entry.

When you purchase a ticket to Tweetsie Christmas, you will select a specific night and train ride time. Trains depart each evening of the event at the following times:

5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, and 9:00 p.m.​

Absolutely! The Park opens at 5:00 p.m. for the Tweetsie Christmas event, and there will be plenty of activities to enjoy before your train ride and throughout the evening.

Season Pass holders get a 50% discount on the purchase of one Tweetsie Christmas ticket. Visit the Ticket Office or call 1-877-TWEETSIE (1-877-893-3874) to take advantage of the discount.

There are no discounts or group rates for this special event.

Tickets may be refunded or exchanged at least 48 hours prior to the event for another night as long as the date on your ticket has not expired and the night you want is still available. There is a $5 per ticket fee for refunds and a $10 fee per order for ticket exchange.

There are not assigned seats or train cars, only assigned train ride times. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All the train cars are open-air excursion cars, so the ride can be quite brisk. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

One of our historic narrow gauge steam locomotives, No. 12 or 190, will be pulling the train.

Santa will be in his Gingerbread House through the week before Christmas. Children are welcome to visit with Santa and have a professional photo taken. After Christmas Santa will not be present. Guests are welcome to visit and have photos taken with Mr. & Mrs. Gingerbread in the gingerbread house.

Tweetsie Railroad will only be open only in the evening for Tweetsie Christmas.

Yes, you are welcome to take photos aboard the train, and at various photo opportunities throughout the Park. Professional pictures with Santa Claus will be available in Santa’s Gingerbread House. You can choose from several different photo packages and you are under no obligation to purchase.

This refers to personal, noncommercial photography only. Photos taken at Tweetsie Railroad are not to be used for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the Marketing Department.

Restrooms with changing stations are available on Main Street and the Hacienda. There are no restrooms or diaper changing facilities on the train.

Due to safety regulations, strollers are not allowed on the train. Strollers can be left safely at the train boarding area on Main Street.

The train has a wheelchair accessible train car.

Yes, you can enjoy the taste of the holidays with specialty fudge, s’mores, and hot food items in the Tweetsie Palace, along with traditional foods such as pizza, hot dogs, nachos, and more.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad.

We allow our guests to bring in outside food. We do not allow glass containers or alcohol on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad.

Winter wind, rain, and other adverse conditions are possible. Please check weather conditions prior to your visit and dress accordingly. Portions of the event will take place outside, so if it is raining or snowing please bring appropriate outerwear. Tweetsie Christmas will operate as scheduled unless noted on our website:

Tweetsie Railroad has plenty of free parking on-site.

Boone and Blowing Rock offer a variety of lodging options. October is a very busy time in the mountains and we recommend that you make reservations in advance.
