  • Meet Santa in his own home -- made of gingerbread filled with candied furnishings. Imagine sitting on a chocolate truffle or resting on a piece of ribbon candy just before you meet Santa and have your picture taken with him on his Gingerbread bench. 
  • Take a night-time train ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains on a crisp winter’s night, as you enjoy Christmas carols and the tracks dazzlingly lit for the holidays. Remember to dress warm, the cars have open windows! 
  • Christmas Lights. Lots of them -- thousands to be exact! Holiday lighting professionals have created a winter wonderland of lights not only along the three-mile track but also throughout the open areas of the park. Look for the tunnel of lights and the 40’ LED interactive Christmas tree.
  • Enjoy the sounds of Christmas during a 15-minute variety show in the Tweetsie Palace. You can enjoy the show and warm up with a bowl of chili or soup.
  • Step into a snow globe filled with swirling (synthetic) snow, peak through a Christmas present, feel dwarfed by nut crackers, toy soldiers, candy canes, toy drums, and more.
  • Roast s’mores over an outdoor fire pit and enjoy freshly baked cookies, warm funnel cakes, and other handmade items from Tweetsie Railroad’s famous Fudge Shop. 
  • Complete your family’s holiday experience by picking out your very own Christmas tree from Hart-T-Trees®, located in the parking lot of Tweetsie Railroad. This locally owned and operated tree farm will have just your size - from tabletop to 12’. Larger trees are available by special order. (Show them your Tweetsie Christmas ticket and receive $5.00 off a Christmas tree.) Open 9 am - 9 pm, Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 10 pm, Friday - Sunday. 


  • Purchase a ticket for a specific night and train ride time. The train runs every half hour beginning at 5:30 p.m.
  • The live Christmas show performances are at 5:30, 6:15, 7:00, 7:45, 8:30, and 9:15 pm.

The Tweetsie Christmas event will be held Friday and Saturday evenings, November 24-25, December 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23 and 29-30. Park hours will be 5 pm to 10 pm.

You will enjoy a dazzling holiday light display and holiday music during a 3-mile train ride through the Blue Ridge Mountains in an open-air train car pulled by a historic coal-fired steam locomotive. Dress warm!

The train ride will be delightful for all ages. 

Visit Santa in his Gingerbread House, enjoy a live Christmas show in the Tweetsie Palace, warm up to a campfire and toast s'mores at the Hacienda, enjoy the lights on Main Street and the Christmas trees, visit the shops, and more. 

There will be Christmas tree sales by the Hart-T-Tree farms in the Tweetsie Railroad parking lot through December 23rd. There will also be garland, wreaths, and other holiday décor to choose from. You can save $5.00 off your Christmas tree when you show them your Tweetsie Christmas ticket. 

Tickets can be purchased online, at the Ticket Office during regular operation hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday, or by phone at 1-877-TWEETSIE (1-877-893-3874).

Tickets for Tweetsie Christmas are on sale now. Space is limited each night, so advanced tickets are highly recommended. We anticipate many nights will quickly sell out.

We anticipate that many nights will be sold out well in advance and that no tickets will be available at the door on the night of the event. We strongly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance in order to assure entry. 

When you purchase a ticket to Tweetsie Christmas, you will select a specific night and train ride time. Trains depart each evening of the event at the following times:

5:30, 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, and 10:00 p.m.​

Absolutely! The Park opens at 5:00 p.m. for the Tweetsie Christmas event, and there will be plenty of activities to enjoy before your train ride and throughout the evening.

Season Passes are not valid for this event, but 2017 Season Pass holders get a 50% discount on the purchase of one Tweetsie Christmas ticket.

There are no discounts or group rates for this special event. 

Tickets are nonrefundable unless the event is canceled. Tickets may be exchanged at least 48 hours prior to the event for another night as long as the date on your ticket has not expired and the night you want is still available. There is a $5 fee for ticket exchange. 

There are not assigned seats or train cars, only assigned train ride times. Seating is available on a first-come first-serve basis

All the train cars are open-air excursion cars, so the ride can be quite brisk. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

One of our historic coal-fired steam locomotives, No. 12 or 190, will be pulling the train.

The ride areas of the Park (Country Fair and Miner’s Mountain) will not be open during this event. However, a carousel will be operating in the Tweetsie Junction.

Santa will be in his Gingerbread House. Children are welcome to visit with Santa and have a professional photo taken.

Tweetsie Railroad will only be open only in the evening for Tweetsie Christmas. The Park opens for the 2018 daytime season on Friday, April 6th with its famous Wild West theme. 

Yes, you are welcome to take photos aboard the train, and at various photo opportunities throughout the Park. Professional pictures with Santa Claus will be available in Santa’s Ginger Bread House. You can choose from several different photo packages and you are under no obligation to purchase. Due to time constraints, photos with Santa will be limited to the professional photographer only. 

Restrooms with changing stations are available on Main Street and the Hacienda. There are no restrooms or diaper changing facilities on the train. 

Due to safety regulations, strollers are not allowed on the train. Strollers can be left safely at the train boarding area on Main Street.

The train has a wheelchair accessible train car.

Yes, you can enjoy the taste of the holidays with specialty fudge, s’mores, and fresh cookies, hot food items in the Tweetsie Palace, along with traditional foods such as pizza, hot dogs, nachos, and more. 

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad. 

We allow our guests to bring in outside food. Please note: we do not allow glass containers or alcohol on the premises of Tweetsie Railroad. 

Winter wind, rain, and other adverse conditions are possible. Please check weather conditions prior to your visit and dress accordingly. Portions of the event will take place outside, so if it is raining or snowing please bring appropriate outerwear. Tweetsie Christmas will operate as scheduled unless noted on our website:
